Backing Into Parking Spaces Is Prohibited

All auto, truck or van drivers who use campus parking facilities during scheduled class hours and final examination periods are required to pay a parking permit fee. Students enrolled exclusively in weekend or off-campus classes are exempt. Parking permits may be transferred from one vehicle to another. A, C, F, G, L, N, and P. Visitor parking is reserved for visitors and guests to our campus, staff and students are prohibited from using these lots. Visitor Lots D and M. Refer to campus maps for permit machine locations. Students may pay for their parking permits at the time of WebSMART registration. Parking permits will be mailed to students if they register for classes at least one week before the start of the semester. Day and evening students must park in student lots only. All staff lots are reserved for staff at all times. Refer to the campus map for parking lot locations.

While parking in Skyline College campus parking lots, students must obey all campus, local and state regulations. Backing into parking spaces is prohibited, and violators will be cited. At the beginning of each term, a grace period of two weeks (one week for summer session) will be in effect in student parking lots only. The grace period does not apply to staff lots and other restricted areas. Parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, a parking permit is not a guarantee of a parking space. Skyline College and the San Mateo County Community College District do not accept liability for vandalism, theft or accidents. Use of campus parking facilities is at the user's risk. Parking spaces with curbs painted blue and marked with disabled person logos are reserved for those persons with a California Disabled Person placard or license plate. If all of the disabled persons parking spaces in a staff lot are occupied a vehicle with a Disabled Person placard may park in any available space in a staff lot.

No student, staff, daily, patron or visitor parking permit is required when displaying either a valid CA Disabled Person placard or license plates. Transportation from student lots to campus may be arranged through the Educational Access Center (EAC). SamTrans provides bus service along several routes to the Skyline College campus. All SamTrans buses are wheelchair accessible. SamTrans Routes 121 and 140 provide weekday service to Skyline College. Route 121 starts at Lowell and Hanover streets, then serves the Daly City BART station, Seton Medical Center, Colma BART, Serramonte, Fairmont and Westview on its way to the college. Route 140 delivers students traveling from Pacifica and San Bruno BART. Weekend note: The 121 line does not provide service to Skyline College on the weekends. The 140 is the only line that provides service to the college on weekends. Redi-Wheels Paratransit is for persons with disabilities who cannot independently use regular SamTrans bus service some or all of the time. For information and hours, see the SamTrans website. The right to appeal a parking citation is outlined in California Vehicle Code section 40215. The appeal process is designed to lawfully address citations issued in error, or when the dismissal of a citation is in the interest of justice. A formal citation appeal must be submitted in all cases. California Vehicle Code section 40500(d) prohibits any entity from altering, modifying, destroying, or nullifying a citation before it is processed by the Office of Parking Violations. The San Mateo County Community College District Department of Public Safety cannot rescind or void citations (even if issued in error) outside of the appeal process.

Parking Fees. Payment of any monthly parking fee parallels the system prescribed for payment of rent. Bicycles - registration is required for main campus usage. No driving is permitted on sidewalks or grassy areas for any purpose including moving or avoidance of speed bumps. Speed limits are strictly enforced. Family Housing parking lots are not to be used for storage of private property or inoperable vehicles. Mechanical work such as changing oil, engine work, etc., is also prohibited. Posted “one-way” traffic on Grandview (moving east) and on 21st Street (moving north) must be strictly adhered to by Athens Court and Marine Court tenants and visitors. Repeated violations may result in vehicles being towed and/or in lease cancellation. Tenants are encouraged to report incidents of reckless driving or other unsafe conditions to the university police immediately. Visitors to the CU Boulder campus may park for a fee in meter spaces, in lots with payment mechanisms, Euclid Parking Garage, Folsom Parking Garage or by temporary permit. Business Permits may be purchased by university departments and nonaffiliated agencies whose employees require regular parking access on campus away from the employee’s assigned workplace(s) to conduct official departmental or company business with university departments.
